About the Alliance
What is DPCA?
The Direct Primary Care Alliance (DPCA) is a national membership-based organization dedicated to advancing the Direct Primary Care profession and strengthening the community of physicians, practices, and advocates who believe in patient-centered, affordable healthcare. The Alliance provides a unified voice for DPC physicians, offering education, resources, networking, and advocacy to ensure that practices can thrive outside of the traditional insurance-based system. By fostering collaboration among physicians, residents, medical students, and industry partners, the DPCA is building an ecosystem that supports innovation, practice sustainability, and better outcomes for patients.
At its core, the DPCA exists to empower DPC practices of all sizes and stages. It does this by hosting professional development programs such as masterminds, retreats, webinars, and sprints; by cultivating partnerships with vendors who support the DPC model; and by maintaining directories and resources that connect physicians with each other and with patients seeking DPC care. The Alliance is also committed to leadership development and governance, encouraging active participation from its members through volunteer councils, committees, and an elected Board of Directors. Together, these efforts help ensure that Direct Primary Care continues to grow as a viable, accessible, and patient-focused alternative in the healthcare landscape.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an innovative healthcare model where physicians partner with their patients to provide primary care services under a flat, periodic membership fee. By moving outside of the administrative burdens of the traditional insurance-based billing system, DPC practices are able to provide a wide spectrum of care in a transparent, affordable manner. DPC practices—now a grassroots movement numbering over 1000 nationwide—are able to do this while offering patients a higher level of service, communication, and relationship, than what is often found in our dysfunctional healthcare system.
Philosophically, the model is intended to restore the patient-physician relationship without the intrusion of insurance companies.
