Professional Bio
Dr. Tom Bailey, MD completed his pre-med studies at Youngstown State University, graduating with honors. He attended medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University (formerly NEOUCOM), graduating in 1999. Feeling the call to return to his hometown and provide care to his community, he accepted and completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at St Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio from 1999-2002.
Following his training, Dr. Bailey joined an existing private practice in Boardman, Ohio and later established a successful solo practice in Austintown, Ohio from 2004-2011.
Frustrated by ongoing insurance interference in the care of his patients and operation of his practice, he decided to pursue a career in hospital medicine in 2011. Although rewarding, the experience further exposed to him how broken our health care system has become.
In 2023, he made the decision to return to private outpatient practice, but this time adopting the direct primary care (DPC) model of care. Contracting with the patient, and not some faceless insurance company, Dr. Bailey can now deliver the personalized, timely and affordable care that he believes every patient deserves.

Healthcare should be personal, accessible, and centered around the individual, not rushed, fragmented, or dictated by insurance constraints. That belief is what led Dr Tom Bailey to start Mahoning Valley Direct Primary Care.
Dr Bailey focuses on building real relationships with patients, taking the time to listen, understand concerns, and partnering with patients to create a care plan that fits their life and not just their diagnosis.
With over 25 years of clinical experience working as both an outpatient office-based doctor and a (hospitalist) hospital doctor, Dr Bailey has a wealth of knowledge that allows him to thoroughly investigate and treat your health concerns without the need to immediately refer patients to a specialist.

We are a direct internal medicine primary care practice serving adults 18 years of age and older in the Youngstown, OH region. We are a "pure" direct primary care practice and do not bill any insurances for any care we provide. Membership is priced at a flat fee of $80/month per patient.
