Professional Bio
Family medicine is a second career for Dr. John Jacobsen. Starting out as ag banker in rural Nebraska for over 10 years, he learned early on “customer service” is the most critical component when building a relationship with his customers.
He also learned to be successful a company must provide a product consumers need, a product that provides value/is affordable, a product that is accessible and a product that is simple to understand & use. This core belief led him from an insurance-based fee for service medical practice to a direct primary care practice, a practice model providing healthcare services consumers need, providing services that add value for customers, providing easily accessible healthcare services and finally, providing healthcare that is simply to understand and use. In direct primary care, a customer pays a monthly membership removing the financial barriers to receive needed healthcare.
Dr. Jacobsen opened Click Family Healthcare in Kearney, NE in November of 2017. In October 2020, during the height of COVID, he opened a second clinic in Broken Bow, NE.
Dr. Jacobsen has been married to his wife Janet for 43 years and has 2 daughters, Jenny (fiancé Aaron) who have 3 children, Ruby, Macy and Luella and Katie (Michael) who also have 2 children, Easton, and Briar.
John has been active in family medicine organizations at both the state and national levels. He is a past President of the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians. He served as an AAFP Alternate Delegate, has held a position on the NAFP Board of Directors, the Scientific Affairs committee, and the Executive committee. On the national level, John is a past Chairman of the Finance and Insurance Commission of the (AAFP), an organization serving over 120,000 Family Physicians nationwide. He is also a member of the the Nebraska Medical Association.
